Lib Dem Moss Bank Councillor jeopardises 10,000 new St Helens jobs

As reported below, Cllr Richard Ferry (Lib Dem for Moss Bank) recently used his casting vote as planning chairman to vote in favour of proposals to redevelop Newton Park farmhouse and barn to create 37 new homes. If this development goes ahead, there could be major consequences for plans to build the rail freight terminal on the former pit - a project that could create 10,000 new jobs.

These people are supposed to be representing you. They're not. Vote them out.

Interesting that the LDs supposed objection to the parkside development was that it would encroach on green belt land.Yet they approved a housing development on green belt land on the very same site.So that's the 'green belt argument' gone.

The Lib Dems own policy calls for a huge increase in rail freight to ease congestion. So that's the 'congestion' argument gone.

One does have to wonder exactly what the reason is for the Lib Dems opposition to the proposed development of Parkside and the thousands of jobs it would bring to the borough.

Because of the LDs we now have a council member for regeneration who is an opponent of this development-we must be a laughing stock to any potential investors into St Helens. The Tories close all our pits and a Tory/LD alliance on the council makes sure we don't get any new jobs to replace them. Let's hope we get rid before they do too much damage to our town's economic future.

Don't forget the same Billinge based 'Moss Bank' Lib Dem Councillor refused to support a planning application to build a children's sure start centre in Moss Bank. That means the Lib Dem in question refused to support a centre designed to help fight deprivation and has now put in jeopardy thousands of jobs, that weould also help cut deprivation in St Helens. Perhaps they are just Tories in Lib Dem clothing.
